Emerald-Green Nath
The nath is the one piece of Indian bridal jewellery that changes a face. Worn on the left nostril and often looped up to the hair, it is the final flourish of the solah shringar, the sixteen adornments a bride wears on her wedding day. Glorious Jewels makes them in imitation finishes so you can wear the tradition without the weight or the worry.
Green against gold is one of the oldest combinations in Indian jewellery, and one of the most forgiving. This nath runs emerald-green stones along the outer rim, which gives the piece a defined edge and makes it read clearly even in photographs taken from a distance.
What makes this nath special
- Emerald-green stones set along the full outer rim
- Clean, defined outline that photographs well
- The most affordable nath in the collection
- Easy to match with green-accented kundan and temple jewellery
How to wear it
Green asks for a little green elsewhere. A pair of earrings with the same stone, or a green border on the saree, is enough to tie it together. It is particularly good with ivory, gold and deep red, and it suits festival wear as readily as a wedding.
Caring for your nath
Put your nath on last, after makeup, perfume and hairspray have settled, and take it off first at the end of the night. Wipe it with a soft dry cloth and store it flat in its own pouch so the chain and stones do not catch on other pieces. Kept away from water, the finish holds beautifully.
