Kundan Nath with Hanging Pearls
The nath is the one piece of Indian bridal jewellery that changes a face. Worn on the left nostril and often looped up to the hair, it is the final flourish of the solah shringar, the sixteen adornments a bride wears on her wedding day. Glorious Jewels makes them in imitation finishes so you can wear the tradition without the weight or the worry.
Pearls move. That is the whole argument for this design. Where a plain rim sits still, hanging pearl drops sway with every turn of the head, which is why this is the most photographed shape of nath at a wedding. The kundan work above gives the drops something solid to hang from.
What makes this nath special
- Hanging pearl drops that move as you move
- Premium kundan work through the body of the ring
- The most elaborate nath in this collection
- Softer palette of cream and gold rather than coloured stones
How to wear it
Give it room. Skip the maangtika, or choose a very fine one, and keep earrings close to the ear so nothing competes with the drops. It is a natural match for ivory, blush and champagne lehengas, and for the softer palettes brides increasingly choose over traditional red.
Caring for your nath
Put your nath on last, after makeup, perfume and hairspray have settled, and take it off first at the end of the night. Wipe it with a soft dry cloth and store it flat in its own pouch so the chain and stones do not catch on other pieces. Kept away from water, the finish holds beautifully.
